Perl 6

Perl 6 unifies many great ideas that aren't usually found in other programming languages. While several other languages offer some of these features, none of them offer all. Features:

  • Object-oriented programming including generics, roles and multiple dispatch
  • Functional programming primitives, lazy and eager list evaluation, junctions, autothreading and hyperoperators (vector operators)
  • Parallelism, concurrency, and asynchrony including multi-core support
  • Definable grammars for pattern matching and generalized string processing
  • Optional and gradual typing NOTE: Perl 6 is not a new version of Perl and it's not going to replace Perl 5. The development of Perl 5 will continue independently.
