Microsoft Train Simulator

Microsoft Train Simulator (MSTS) was a train simulator for Microsoft Windows, released in May 2001 and developed by Kuju Entertainment in the UK. MSTS allowed players to operate a train on various routes in Europe, Asia, and the United States. MSTS also supported RailDriver, a desktop cab controller for train simulation software. In 2003, Microsoft announced that it would attempt to develop Microsoft Train Simulator 2: after many delays, however, the project was definitively abandoned in 2009. According to https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/lifecycle/search/1084 , support for Microsoft Train Simulator ended on 11 July 2006. Kuju Entertainment went on to develop Rail Simulator with Electronic Arts: the title formed the basis for what is now Dovetail Games Train Simulator. Meanwhile, the abundance of commercial and freeware MSTS content resulted in the creation of the Open Rails project.
