EIDAuthenticate is a software tool used to perform smart card logon on a standalone computer not joined to an active directory domain. The software was designed to support most smart cards and to be compatible with existing smart card components. It offers the same level as the smart card logon mechanism offered by Microsoft :

• enforces the use of smart cards
• improves authentication for logon purposes safety
• locks the screen if the smart card is removed
• Forces logoff on smart card removal
• Minimum constraints were considered about certificate of smart card. (smart card logon EKU, signature only smart card, ...)
