dvdisaster

Dvdisaster stores data on your CD/DVD/BD including additional error correction data to protect against data loss due to disk surface degradation (read errors). This makes optical disks safer for long-term storage since it allows for data recovery even after some read errors occur. Dvdisaster can scan the disk for unreadable sectors and helps decide when to move data to a new medium before data might become unrecoverable. The scan feature will also work when there is no error correction data present. However, Dvdisaster can not recover data if no error correction data has been added before. Dvdisaster works on the image level and does not depend on the file system.
